Block of the Month Programs

Welcome to the Block of the Month programs at the Porch. As many of you know, our BOM's are a fun way to make a quilt without breaking the bank! Once you sign up for one or more of our programs, we will mail your block (fabric & pattern) to you on the 1st of each month. You will have fun waiting for the mail to add your new block to your quilts each month.

Civil War Tribute

Judy Rothermal has once again out-done herself with this amazing collection of 50 Civil War prints. The collection emcompasses a varied palette that combines the historical accuracy and the appeal for which she is well known. Our BOM will feature a major battle of the Civil War. Included with the pattern each month, there will be historical references about the corresponding battle and how it affected the lives of those left at home. Another special element of the clips from actual Civil War Diaries and letters from an extensive collection from Duke University. This 100" X 112" quilt is $24.95 per month. The number of blocks you receive each month with vary. Give us a call and we will get you started!

Moon Glow

This quilt is one that you're going to have to stop by and see to appreciate! Jinny Beyer has designed a grouping of basic fabrics for quilters only and turned them into a stunning spectrum of color. This BOM utilizes the skills of paper piecing and Y-seams. This BOM will be completed in 6 months by making 2 star blocks each month. The cost of the BOM is $65 the first month, which includes all your background fabric and 2 star blocks, then $34.95 for months 2 through 6. You will receive fabric for 2 blocks each month. By the sixth month you will have all the fabrics need to complete the quilt top.  Check out the picture of the quilt in our kits section. 

If you hate to cut and fuse? Then this is the BOM for you.   When you arrive each month to pick up your block, you can get down to the business of sewing right away!  The appliques are cut and already have the steam-a-seam fused down,just peel off the paper backing and fuse the applique down on your fabric.  (We have also prewashed and dryed your fabric for the appliques). Finish it off by using some fun stitches on your sewing marchine that never get used.  $24.00 for your background fabric and $18.00 each month for 8 months.

Farmer's Wife Sampler

In 1922, The Farmer's Wife Magazine posed the question, "If you had a daughter of marriagible age, would you, in light of your own experiences, have her marry a farmer?"The magazine at that time had 750.00 subscribers and yet they received over 7,000 letters! The best answers to this question are included in this book, along with the traditional quilt blocks they inspired. This BOM  costs $16.99 a month plus the cost of the book. This BOM runs for 18 months. In addition , we will be having The Farmer's Wife Club which will meet the first Wednesday of every month. As a member of the club, you will receive printed detailed instructions from me on doing each block. Maybe we can share some good ol'  "farm" recipes while we sew! Cost for the club is $5 per month.  You can join any time as long as we have kits.

Country Magic

If you like to paper piece this stunning quilt is for you.  All the fabrics are hand dyed and wonderful to work with!  Each month you will complete 2 blocks for a total of 24 intricate but accurate blocks. This 12 month quilt includes all the fabric to oomplete the top of your quilt, including setting blocks, borders, and binding.  You may start this BOM any time.  $35.95 each month  106" x 106"

Back to Nature

This quilt was designed by Wing & A Prayer Design.  This wonderful quilt reminds us of "Up North".  In 12 months you will have completed this 96" x 106" queen size quilt.  $20.00 per month and this also includes your 108" backing.  Do need your quilt sooner?  You may also buy the whole kit at one time, just let us know and we will take care of it for you!
